Zandvoort Beach for Amsterdam

Jan Willem - 53 years old, Zandvoort resident - volunteer KNRM Zandvoort

Zandvoort can be compared to a flower: when the sun starts shining, the village comes alive. In winter Zandvoort is a small and cosy place, in summer it is incredibly lively and feels grand. I have lived here for almost 30 years and the nice thing about living in Zandvoort is that all amenities are close by. Zandvoort has everything a good seaside resort should have.

I volunteer with the KNRM and that is a special thing to do. It is wonderful to see the boat sail out. This voluntary work - rescuing people and animals - has really become a passion of mine. I have been doing it for almost 23 years and in 2024 we are going to have a special year during KNRM's 200th anniversary, with lots of fun activities throughout the year!

My Zandvoort tips

My favourite place is the beach and, of course, at sea. My weekly lucky moment is during KNRM's Saturday morning exercise. From the boat at sea, you can see the sun rising over our village. Also curious about the view of our village from the sea? Then check out Zandvoort's wide range of activities on the water. Zandvoort has a lot to offer: besides kitesurfing, think about a course of supping, catamaran sailing or canoeing.

Zandvoort's beach is very extensive, my tip: walk along the beach all the way to Noordvoort or towards Bloemendaal. The beach is beautiful, even now in winter. In the village, I like the Kerkplein square. I regularly go for a drink at Brazee, because you can sit on the terrace there all year round.
