The museum in Zandvoort presents a series of cartoons by Toon van Driel, the cartoonist of the Knudde strip. Max Verstappen is also part of the Knudde strip. The cartoons fit well with the atmosphere of Formula 1 and motor sports.
Toon explains enthusiastically how he got the idea to add Max to the Knudde cartoon: "My health was going well for a while until Max decided to race in F1 and the way he did gave me heart palpitations. It was every race. When his teammates and colleagues couldn't see what they were looking for either, you are talking about an exceptional talent. Can you joke about that, I hear you think?"
He smiles and continues: "For a while he didn't even have a driving licence! I could go on for 20 pages about how Max was lapping the established ones, but when he won Zandvoort under immense pressure in front of a sold-out house, I ran out of pens to cover it.
I am happy to show you that creative explosion towards the world championship at the Zandvoort museum from 12 August to 9 October. It's great to drive loose! Believe me, it is an honourable assignment. Are you coming too? Cosy!"
